This nativity scene is an extraction from the 1772 painting "The Adoration of the Shepherds" by artist Anton Raphael Mengs (1728-1779)
In the original painting, you can see the artist himself at the left, pointing out the miraculous event. The artist perfectly uses lights and shadows to show the light emitted from the new born Jesus.
If you focus on the face of Jesus, you can see his eyes looking right at you. You can almost hear the eyes say: "I am here because I love you!"
