The Return of the Prodigal Son (1669) is an oil painting by Rembrandt (1606 - 1669). 

In 1766, Catherine the Great, the last Empress of Russia, acquired the painting and placed in Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg - Russia, where it remains to this day.
